Well, if I ever decide to go into the Artsy Valentine’s Day card industry, I have a sample to show.
It’s not quite my cup of tea but I wanted to try something a little more flowy and loose. I was also dying to try the tube of “Brilliant Magenta” paint I bought. The result? This little painting and my new found desire to write a knock off Matilda called Brilliant Magenta*.
*She solves mysteries at her strict boarding school. She paints all of the clues on a canvas. The climax of each story ends with Magenta finishing her painting, declaring “And the one responsible is…”, spinning the canvas around to reveal her rendering of the perpetrator! The icy headmistress reluctantly applauds Magenta’s persistence and use of color mixing. The Case of the Portrait Pink has been solved**.
